Toolkit Training

The NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH TOOLKIT Training provides specialized, skill-building instruction to law enforcement personnel who are assigned to work with local neighborhood watch program and crime prevention units. This instruction complements and enhances the knowledge and skills they receive in their basic and in-service training on working with individual citizens and organized community groups.

One of the most important elements of the training is to provide instruction to maximize utilization of the TOOLKIT and its component templates, tools, curriculums and citizen presentations.  Each law enforcement liaison receives access to the TOOLKIT, including a complete set of instructional materials for law enforcement officials and community members. These materials are created with the goal that agencies can duplicate or change the materials to fit their communities’ needs.  The resources provided within the TOOLKIT are vital to assist in neighborhood/community development.

The TOOLKIT Training:

  • Provides law enforcement officers and citizens with pre-designed instructional presentations to increase their knowledge and skills.
  • Enhances community safety through the utilization of TOOLKIT components.
  • Provides specific instruction in the areas of volunteer management, strategic planning, partnerships, meeting management, improving observation skills, reporting suspicious activities and target hardening for home safety.
